you are or will be a terrible parent.
To be a manager, it doesn't take rocket science but it does take common sense. So first and foremost if you are lacking in this department, please don't even try.
Treating your valued employees as workhorses, beating them over and over, and not offering them any nourishment or water is not how to get the "workhorses" to work for you. I don't know if you know this but slavery has been over with for years. If you kill the horse and overload it with work then how is it supposed to work properly? If the low men on the totem pole have no respect for you because of the way you treat them, then how do you expect them to do a good job when they have no incentive?
Managing people is like being a parent in a lot of ways. You babysit their work, make sure they are growing as employees by meeting goals, make sure they uphold the integrity of the company, see that they are ethical in the decisions that they make, treat their fellow employees with respect, scold them when they make mistakes and praise them when they are good.
You certainly wouldn't pawn off tasks to the kids because you are inept and inadequate to do your own job.
Just because you have security in your job (coughnepotismcough) does not mean you have that security based on job performance. Because if you were my employee, you would have been let go a long time ago. Oh and by the way, when I'd let you go it would be done in a proper manner and not some half-glued, unorganized way.
Did you get a "management" degree like Obama got a "law" degree?
